Biography

Eva’s career as an interactive performance artist and Master Storyteller provides her with the skills to communicate her experience as a survivor in a unique and powerful way. Her passion to save lives by publicly telling her intimate and dramatic story took off after her experience as a featured speaker at the 2003 ADA Annual Session. Eva speaks worldwide at dental meetings, healthcare association conferences and cancer centers.

A champion for early detection, Eva developed an oral cancer awareness campaign, Six Step Screening™, for which she was recognized by the American Academy of Oral Medicine and given honorary membership.

Eva celebrated her 10 year cancer-free anniversary by authoring ‘You Are Not Alone: Families Touched By Cancer,’ the first book in the Talk4Hope series.

Tongue Tied: A Story NOT Silenced by Oral Cancer

Twelve years ago, she planned her funeral. At age 33, Eva Grayzel, a nationally recognized interactive performance artist, was diagnosed with late-stage oral cancer and told she had a 15 percent chance of survival. A non-smoker, she was bounced among dental professionals while the ulcer on her tongue grew more prominent and painful. You will laugh, cry, and broaden your understanding of life’s possibilities as Eva shares riveting details about her delayed diagnosis and how she found the strength to persevere through the devastating effects of radical surgery and radiation.
